Food Safety and Quality Division (BKKM) is one program under the Director General of Health, Ministry of Health (MOH organizational See Chart).
Food Safety and Quality Division was created to protect the public from health hazards and fraud in the preparation, sale and storage of food. This activity has grown rapidly since the 1950s. Before 1985, the enforcement of food safety and quality are carried out under the Sale of Food and Drugs Ordinance 1952. The legal requirement of food is realized with the country's progress in line with world trends in food security and safety; technological developments in food production and food marketing. Food Act 1983 and Food Regulations 1985 came into force in October 1985.
Starting from its inception in 1974, the Division known as the Food Quality Control Unit. In line with the development of national food industry, increase the economic trend in the early 1990s and the issue of global food security, the Food Quality Control Unit was upgraded to Food Quality Control Division at the Ministry level in 1993. In September 2004, the Food Quality Control Division has conducted branding back to the Food Safety and Quality Division. This section has been upgraded to a program on July 1, 2010 and headed by Senior Director and Director of two.
